Forthcoming April 2015 on the ERC imprint will be Magda Tagliaferro’s remarkable piano recital “D’Ombre et de Lumière…”.
Born of French parents, spending her early formative years in Brazil it comes as no surprise that Tagliaferro has a unique affinity with the piano compositions of the Spanish masters: De Falla, Granados & Albeniz. After initially studying with her father Magda relocated to Paris at the age of 13. She entered the Paris Conservatoire to study under Alfred Cortot where she achieved the ‘Premier Prix’ just one year later. It was with Cortot that Tagliaferro realised her full potential developing a richness of tone, emotion, tenderness and melancholy which is evident in this truly inspirational 1960 performance recorded by Ducretet-Thomson.
In keeping with the original release we have sourced the highest quality artists cartridge paper for the sleeve. As with all ERC releases full vintage letterpress type setting procedures for the production of the hand finished jackets have been undertaken (please see fig. 4-7 below).
The wide dynamic range present on the recording has been fully preserved during the transfer to vinyl thanks to ERC’s true valve stereo analogue varigroove cutting system.
